The Aviator

In 2003 I was one of the arranger/ transcribers for Martin Scorsese's blockbuster film The Aviator a bio-pic about Howard Hughes featuring an all star cast.

Here is the restaurant scene featuring Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks playing "Happy Feet". I transcribed the solos after Errol Flynn schmoozes with Kathryn Hepburn.

You can hear a rare instance of me improvising on the celeste (Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies) behind the vocals too! The on screen vocalists happen to be Loudon Wainwright III and Vince Giordano. The studio vocals were done by The Manhattan Rhythm kings with my old band mate from Leon Redbone days, Brain Nalepka.

Enjoy!
